Report by James Wragg
Armadale's failure to convert in front of goal cost them dearly as Bayswater struck clinically to secure a fantastic win in their first All Flags State Premier League match for 2011.
Bayswater were by far second best in a first half controlled by the home side who came into the match looking for a good start to the season after a disappointing Bam Creative Night Series campaign.
Gianni Papalia in goals for Bayswater was forced into an excellent save after only four minutes to deny Warren Beattie who couldn't have placed the ball in a better spot to score.
Then on seven minutes referee Dave Scragg awarded a penalty to Armadale for a silly trip on Thomas Robinson by George Tchami inside the box. But luckily for Tchami, Parys Okai's penalty was weak and Papalia went down to his left and saved confidently to keep the scores level.
But as they should have scored from the penalty spot, there were no excuses for missing another guilt-edge opportunity two minutes later from no more than two yards out.
Jason Goodwin found the ball at his feet with only the net in front of him after goalkeeper and defender got in each other's way when trying to stop a cut back from the left, but his stabbed effort was deflected over.
Armadale tried hard to get that opening goal they deserved but poor finishing let them down again when Robinson was sent through only to sky his effort high over the bar from a slight angle.
Bayswater, led by the impressive Gavin Knight, were doing their best when scarce opportunity arose but were also doing their best to gift Armadale the opening goal as Papalia kicked straight at Robinson after a pass back but Robinson was unable to take full opportunity and Papalia saved his shot.
Then just before half time Armadale's defence was split open with a fantastic through ball searching for Anthony McStea who ran on behind Matt Bennion and slotted a first-time effort over Cyril Sharrock for the opener.
Armadale then hit the post at the start of the second half when Ross Diamond diverted Robinson's cross onto the woodwork.
It only got worse for the home side on 56 minutes as David Sesay was afforded far too much time and space as he ran forward and laid the ball into the path of Cisco Jorquera who rounded Sharrock and tucked it away.
Armadale had the ball in the back of the net on 63 minutes when Marlon Ramirez tucked in a rebound but it was ruled offside to the disagreement of the home side.
Bayswater were well on top as the second half wore on with Armadale looking tired and Knight smashed the crossbar when it couldn't have been easier to score.
The match ended on a sour note as a late challenge on Sesay by substitute Sean Nichols gave the referee no hesitation to brandish a red card as tempers flared and all players gathered in the centre of the park.
But it was Bayswater's afternoon and Armadale will be looking for much improvement in front of goal if they are to challenge for the premiership this year.
